On Wednesday 20th November, to commemorate the community centre’s launch, The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Cllr Jit Ranabhat, unveiled a plaque before making a short speech celebrating the arrival of this fantastic community facility. The occasion was attended by key stakeholders including Vistry, Taylor Wimpey, London Development Trust, Royal Borough of Greenwich counsellors, as well as GMV residents, to support this latest milestone at Greenwich Millennium Village.
The new Community Centre, occupied by the London Development Trust – an organisation with over 15 years’ experience of community development, is a vital new addition for Greenwich Millennium Village’s residents, providing a central hub for the community to meet and socialise. Designed to meet the needs for all, the community space includes a multi-purpose hall for events and activities, meeting rooms for groups and organisations, a fitness area for health and wellness and additional spaces dedicated to educational and recreational activities for both children and adults.
The event featured activities including roller skating and face painting as well as the opportunity for the attendees to tour the new facility and learn more about the programmes and services that will be on offer.
The new Community Centre is located off Oswald Gardens and open to all residents and community members. To learn more about what is happening at the centre, visit www.gmvcommunitycentre.org.uk.
