With rising energy prices hitting the headlines, the cost of firing up the heating as temperatures drop is a huge consideration for most of us.
It’s never too early to think about ways to save energy, but with snuggle season upon us, we set out to see how many of us know how much you can save in a new build home.
More than 1,000 people took part in our Energy Savers survey and we were delighted to hear 92% of you believe living in an energy efficient home is important.
But when it comes to putting a figure on exactly how much money you’re spared in an energy efficient new build, the majority of you actually underestimate how much you can save.
If you’re one of the 43% of people who put the figure at less that £1,000 - or one of the 41% who placed it between £1,000 and £2,000 - you’ll be pleased to hear you can actually make annual savings of £2,400!
The excellent news is that a new build is far more affordable than you may realise - a spine-tingling 66% more energy efficient than a second hand home.
What’s more, you may find a Green Mortgage is a good option. This is a type of mortgage product offered by the majority of lenders and available to people buying an A or B EPC-rated property. This is a rating which tells us how energy efficient a home is and all our homes are rated generally A or B - which is regarded as excellent! Green mortgages often benefit from lower interest rates too, making your monthly mortgage payments more affordable.
