Creating Frightfully Fabulous Halloween Homes

When it comes to Halloween, our homeowners have a lot of fun transforming their homes inside and out, and they’re getting more creative every year.

We know you’re always on the lookout for new ways to make a statement and each year, the pressure to come up with something original increases.

That’s why we’ve put together a guide to creating a Halloween Home, with a twist.

1. Tell a story

Our customers aren’t just looking for something that looks good, they want to be able to tell a story and for their own unique personalities to shine through.

Whether you prefer something more subtle, like an autumnal door wreath with pumpkins and lanterns scattered around, or want to go completely overboard - it’s entirely your choice. Halloween is about having fun and your home is somewhere you can truly be yourself. So let out your inner demon and dress your home exactly the way you want.

2. Take inspiration from the world

Halloween undoubtedly sees some of the most creative decorations of the year and we can expect some genius references to popular culture and trends.

It’s been a big year for sport - with a nightmare loss for England at the Euros. While politics fever is set to hit a peak this Halloween, ahead of the US election on November 5th. Believe it or not, these are set to be some of the most iconic themes for Halloween 2024 and we can’t wait to see how clever people get with their interpretations of these moments.

3. Create a fantasy backdrop

Much of what we see is also inspired by the big screen.

With the hype around Beetlejuice and Wicked, fans will likely be turning their homes into something akin to the set of their favourite movie. The release of Mufasa is also on the way, and there’s some roarsome Lion King Halloween decor already on the shelves, so this could be another big pick for Disney lovers and families alike.

4. Put on a feast for all the senses

Britain has taken Halloween to its heart and even if you’re planning to stay in, there are plenty of activities to choose from. Whatever you do, remember the devil’s in the detail.

If you’re hoping for a night on the edge of the sofa with a scary movie, be sure to have plenty of blankets and cushions to hide behind.

Or, if you’re having friends and family over and want to go all out, you’ll find an endless pool of easy and affordable homemade ideas on Instagram and TikTok. You can have hours of fun creating your own ‘scare-cuterie’ board and some crowd-pleasing creepy cocktails will leave jaws dropping. Witches Brew anyone?

5. Don’t panic

They say there are two types of people in this world - those who are organised and those who are not! There’s still plenty of time to get creative, but don’t panic if you leave it until late in the day.

The best things in life are often the simplest and you don’t need much to keep friends and family entertained. Netmums has put together a huge list of low-effort games for all the family, so just play some spooky music and let the good times roll.
